Welcome Message

Welcome to the Delaware Domestic Abuse Cooperative. A clearing house of information and help for women who have been abused in the state of Delaware. Share your stories of help ending the violence against you... or stories of help you needed but didn't or couldn't get... Were your civil rights violated? Did you have representation? Did you have an advocate that truly advocated for you? Have you been treated fairly? Have you had your rights explained to you? Have you had help from law enforcement? Has the system enabled your abuser? Has the abuser escaped prosecution due to negligence? Has the court awarded custody to the abuser? Has your abuser alienated your children from you? Have you been refused legal counsel? Do you feel like there is no place to turn?

In 2003 there were 27,776 incidents of reported domestic violence, how many more went unreported like mine? Perhaps like me... you were too afraid to come forward. To end the abuse you suffered. You kept quiet under the threat of retaliation, only to learn that retaliation is inevitable in a system that allows it. That does not treat physical assault as a crime. Does not treat threats of violence or intimidation as a crime. The laws need to change. Perceptions need to change. Education is one way to effect change. Banning together and saying NO to those who stand by and allow abuse to proliferate is as important as saying no to the abuse itself.

There are so many questions.... so many stories.... so many victims.... this is what this blog is for.... to make it better.... to end the abuse.... and to help family's heal.

We are here for you. We will listen. Together we can make a difference.

While you were reading this.... approximately 10 women were domestically abused.
